Chapter Twenty

Sophia

"Omegas..."

I hum, burying my head further into the chest beneath my head and try to ignore the voice urging me to wake up.

"Can't we just let them sleep? Look how sweet they look." Carson's voice is just a tad too loud, keeping me from falling back into the abyss of sleep.

Asher sighs, his voice soothing, but again just a tad too loud. "As much as I'd love to, we can't. Sophia has an appointment with the psychiatrist, and then we have the rose ceremony tonight."

"Will you two shut up? I'm trying to sleep," I practically snarl without opening my eyes.

Chase chuckles beneath me. "Yeah, I'm happy right where I am."

"Damn it, omegas, get your asses out of the car," Liam growls and I wrinkle my nose as my eyes blink open.

"Watch it, Mr. Grumpy Pants. Remember you're here to win me over, and being grumpy and growly isn't the way to do it."

Chase snickers. "Are you sure about that? He's pretty hot when he's grumpy and growly."

I slap a hand down on Chase's chest before sitting up. "I take it we're back?" I ask as I stretch, glancing out the windows."

"For about fifteen minutes or so since neither of you wanted to wake up," Carson says with a grin.

I just shrug. "I was tired. I obviously needed a nap, but Asher is right. I do have a meeting with Finn that I can't miss."

I allow Asher to help me out of the car, Chase climbing out behind me and immediately wrapping his arm around my waist. He pulls me more firmly against his side as I turn my face up to him, a questioning look on my face.

Chase leans down to kiss the tip of my nose. "I was enjoying cuddling with you, and I'm not ready for you to be away from me yet."

"That's sweet." I snuggle into his side, a smile on my face even as I feel myself flushing. I felt a draw to all four members of the Lewitt pack, but there's always been something special between Chase and me. I have no idea how to describe it, but no one has ever made me feel the way he does.

We meander up the walkway to the mansion, taking our time even though I know I'm likely to be late for my appointment with Finn. I'm sure he'll understand, and if he doesn't? That's just too bad. I'm not ready to leave my omega yet.

My omega? That's the second time I've called him that today, but he's not actually mine. Why do I keep calling him that? Yes, I'm giving them a second chance, but it's not a given that I'll choose them. And if that's what my omega side expects, she can get over it right now.

Do I want them? There's no question about that. But I don't trust them—how can I after what happened? Not that it was their fault. They really didn't do anything wrong, but it's hard for me to convince my head of that.
